Author of Sovereign Queen, coach, and founder of the Sovereign Queen Movement.
I was born breech, in a refugee camp on the Thailand-Cambodia border, on a night that could easily have ended differently. My mother named me after herself. Sokuntha. Almost her. Not quite. My own.
We arrived in France when I was eight months old. When I was seven, we moved to Franconville, into a house with a garden my parents worked endlessly to pay for. There was a neighbour there who made it clear, in small ways that could always be denied, that a family like ours was too much. Standing in that garden, I made myself a promise: I would earn my place so thoroughly that no one could ever take it.
I kept that promise for almost four decades.
The years of earning it
At twenty-seven, I moved to London when everyone told me I was too old to start over. Two months after I arrived, I was offered a role at Ernst and Young. It was in London that a colleague first heard my name and told me it was beautiful. I went home that evening and said it to myself, again and again, as if I were hearing it for the first time.
Later, I moved to Cambodia, where I had always dreamed of working, and rose to director level. From the outside, I had it all figured out.
Inside, I was replaying conversations, drafting messages I would rewrite three times before sending, and preparing for meetings I already knew how to run. Two years under a CEO who made work something I survived ended in burnout, and in 2020, I resigned.
A man named James kept telling me to go all in on my coaching, long before I believed in it myself. I kept saying not yet. When he died suddenly, I understood that I had never been waiting for the right conditions. I had been waiting for permission.
So I stopped waiting. I trained formally as a coach, and became certified in mental fitness coaching, as an NLP Coach and Practitioner, and as a Time Line Therapy™ Practitioner.
Then I started sharing my story with other women. They recognised themselves in it, and said things out loud they had never said anywhere else. The words I heard most often were: I thought I was the only one.

Everything I share, I found in my own life first. The pattern underneath the over-giving, the over-explaining and the second-guessing. Where it starts. And how it changes, one small decision at a time.
Today, I work with women who are tired in a way that rest does not fix, through my book, the Sovereign Queen 5-Day Challenge, and the Sovereign Queen Movement, our free community. I have lived in seven countries, and I am now based in Vietnam, working with women across the world.
